Eugen Gritschneder is a german Cinematographer shooting drama, documentary, commercials and music videos. He lives in Munich but also works on a regular basis in Berlin, Copenhagen and London.
Eugen’s films have been shown on national and international Film Festivals and have been awarded numerous awards. Most notably Eugen has been awarded the price for Best Cinematography for his short REVOLUTION at the 2016 International Film Festival Pielagos en Corto in Santander, Spain. His debut feature FAMILIENFIEBER won the price for the best debut at the prestigious Max-Ophüls-Prize 2014 and had a nationwide release in Cinemas. In 2015 Eugen Gritschneder shot his first documentary feature MOLLATH which premiered at the Munich Filmfestival and was later released in Cinemas. Alongside his work as Director of Photography Eugen also works as 2nd Unit DP and Camera Operator on german feature films such as the final installment of the internationally successful Ruby Red Trilogy SMARAGDGRÜN and on EIN GESCHENK DER GÖTTER, the independent comedy which was nominated fort he german film prize LOLA 2015.
Eugen studied Cinematography at the Munich Filmschool and worked as an intern at ARRI Camera Rental Munich. Prior to Filmschool Eugen Gritschneder already attended the European Film College in Denmark. Today Eugen has become a regular Guest Teacher at the College and teaches Visual Storytelling.
